Position Summary

This is a position with responsibilities in the Office of Campus Life. The Student Experience Social Media Intern will assist in promoting initiatives and programming taking place in the Campus Life portfolio of offices.  The intern will support social media efforts across multiple platforms, communicating with prospective and current students, alumni, faculty and staff, and the community at large, with a focus on delivering impactful content.

OVERVIEW: 

Following best practices and the latest marketing trends, the successful candidate will have a passion for storytelling and outreach across digital mediums and create content with audience behavior, user experience, SEO, accessibility, branding, and the division's key performance indicators in mind.

 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates across Campus Life offices to deliver strategic communication through digital platforms
  • Helps identify current trends and campus knowledge that could elevate student awareness about offerings and programs
  • Coordinates and delivers original content from conception and execution through posting and distribution
  • Develops creative and innovative methods to package fresh and existing content in multiple formats tailored to the Colleges’ various platforms - using video, podcasts, infographics, and other media as appropriate
  • Provides coverage of events as needed. Align work with shared Colleges’ content calendar and keeps track to make sure stories and output are aligned with monthly themes and desired outcomes
  • Works with creative team and others to ensure brand consistency on multimedia projects
  • Generates and brings new and fresh ideas about stories and approaches to coverage that are most user-friendly and shareable for target audience
  • Meeting quick turnarounds to post high quality videos on same day that events occur
  • Attend meetings with professional staff as needed

 

Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of social media trends and best practices for platforms such as Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook
  • Strong record of reliability, honesty and trust
  • Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to motivate others
  • Excellent organization and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse team members, including students and administrators
  • Demonstrate flexibility, responsibility, and willingness to assist others
  • Proficient in Canva is preferred
