POSITION SUMMARY
The Geoscience Department is seeking an experienced Geo 184 student to be a Teaching Assistant (TA) in Geo 184 for the Spring 2026 semester. The teacher assistant position pays $16/hr and requires 4 hrs of work per week.
Monday – 1:10 - 4:10 pm (lab time)
1 hour for regular meeting with Professor Arens; meeting time to be determined
Job Requirements:
- Successful completion of Geo 184
- Successful completion of van certification after hiring
- Ability to work well with peers, providing guidance on exercises
- Proficiency in identifying the course suite of minerals and rocks and working with geological maps
- Excellent field skills
- Availability during the scheduled lab time
Responsibilities
- Assist students with lab exercises and field work
- Provide guidance and support to peers
- Help identify minerals and rocks
