Description
The Student Woodshop Assistant will work under the supervision of the Studio Technician and will assist in maintaining and supervising the Metal Shop located in the Elliott Studio Arts Building.
Responsibilities
- Assist professors and students in proper use of all equipment as well as follow all safety precautions and guidelines.
- Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks to keep the metal shop in good running order.
- Supervise Studio Art and/or Architecture students during evening hours.
Qualifications
- Student must have taken ARTS 115 (Three Dimensional Design) and/or ARTS 214: Metal Sculpture and be familiar with the department curriculum.
- Possess strong communication skills and be willing to take initiative following guidelines.
- Possess an excellent attendance record.
- Ability to maintain focus for extended periods of time in the manner of a lifeguard.
- Display good judgment, reliability and maturity at all times.
- Strong customer service orientation, positive, helpful, resourceful, dependable.
- Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to unique social, cultural and economic circumstances of students.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Familiar with HWS campus, programs, services, departments.
