Pay rate: $16 per hour

Description

Did you know that Hobart and William Smith has more than 90 international students from over 40 different countries? The Office of International Student Success at HWS hosts International Student Orientation before the fall semester to welcome new international students and help them adjust to their new life at HWS. Please consider becoming part of our team!

Responsibilities

  • Contact new incoming international students weekly in June, July, and August. Approximately 5 hours/week in “office hours”. Connect new students to each-other, forge relationships, answer or refer questions to appropriate staff. This can be done in-person, through email, phone call, Zoom, WhatsApp, or other means.
  • Help facilitate International Student Orientation from Thursday, August 15 through Sunday, August 19. Attend every event. 
  • Create and run icebreaking activities during International Student Orientation.
  • Oversee evening social activities on Friday, August 16 and Saturday, Aug. 17. 
  • Support new students with questions, finding their way around campus, and getting situated.

Expectations:

 

Orientation week:  Serve as a student mentor during International Student Orientation (Sun, Aug. 23 through Wednesday morning, Aug. 26). International Orientation Mentors help new international students adjust to campus, learn about resources, and help facilitate the orientation program. Jobs during International Student Orientation include helping students navigate campus, setting up and cleaning up activities, running activities, and serving as a resource about HWS, Geneva, and the United States. 

Arrival date:  Must arrive to campus by Saturday, Aug. 22nd.

Training: On-line trainings in alcohol and drug awareness as well as Title IX must be completed before Sat, August 22nd.

 

*Note: We are not able to accept those who are CAs or on the O-Team due to overlapping schedules and trainings.

Students must present original documents indicating they are eligible to work in the U.S. Photocopies of documents cannot be accepted. Students should ensure they have their documents on campus or have a plan to get their documents to campus if they are hired to work on campus.
