The Stewardship and Donor Relations Intern cultivates and encourages a vibrant culture of goodwill and gratitude between Hobart and William Smith Colleges and its many donors. Prompt and sincere expressions of gratitude to those who support the Colleges is directly linked to their satisfaction as donors, which increases ongoing loyalty to HWS. Interns will receive training and guidance to better equip them to reach out to alumni/ae, current students, parents, faculty, staff and friends to say "thank you" in meaningful and special ways. The interns will focus on expressing appreciation for the time, talent, treasures and ties of all who support HWS. Through the active outreach and stewardship efforts of these student interns, HWS will enjoy increasing financial support and volunteer engagement, as well as a rising sense of shared pride in the Colleges. Because interns serve as the voice and face of HWS when making calls, writing thank you notes, and doing other outreach with supporters, you are encouraged to act in a warm, genuine, professional manner.
 
Responsibilities
 
·        Call donors and thank them for their gifts made to Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
·        Utilize ThankView to record, edit and create meaningful ways to thank our donors, including recording “thank you” and “happy birthday” videos, etc.
·        Assist the Stewardship and Donor Relations Department with research projects, clerical support and other duties as assigned.
·        Others projects as assigned.
 
 
Qualifications
  • Well-organized
  • Ability to provide meticulous detail and maintain confidentiality, as well as reliability (both attendance and consistency of performance) Ability to follow directions and also work independently
  • Applicants should be self-motivating, possess an entrepreneurial spirit and be comfortable speaking with people on a range of topics including, but not limited to, thanking people for gifts in a professional and personal way
  • Interns should possess a professional demeanor and present themselves as such
  • Ability to edit videos, or ability to learn and master new software
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent penmanship preferred, but legible handwriting is a must
