Summer of Service – Boys and Girls Club Intern

Position Title: Summer of Service – Boys and Girls Club Intern

Semester/Year: Summer 2024

Total Positions Available: 6

Supervisor: Katie Flowers

Pay rate: $15.00 per hour

Hours per Week: 30-35  

Start Date: June 24, 2024

End Date: August 16, 2024 (tentative) 

 

Position Description:

  • Weekly hour commitment is 30-35 hours (included 3-4 working with peer tutors and children, and additional time planning with CCESL staff and peer Boys and Girls Club Interns) 
  • Boys and Girls Club Interns will serve as a leader of CCESL, and as both an academic tutor and social role model for local youth.
  • Boys and Girls Club Interns will be expected to attend monthly meetings with CCESL Staff. 
  • Boys and Girls Club Interns are responsible for keeping students engaged and enriched during July and August programming. 
  • Boys and Girls Club Interns will maintain communication with CCESL Staff and Boys and Girls Club of Geneva and maintain accurate records.
  • Boys and Girls Club Interns are expected to engage students in extracurricular activities throughout the gym, games room, art room, or in other school-based locations (library, classroom, etc).
  • Boys and Girls Club Interns will escort kids on field trips and special programming at culinary camps, and outward bound type events 

 

 Qualifications:

  • Boys and Girls Club Interns will need to be excellent at managing their time and be prompt for every meeting and session. 
  • Boys and Girls Club Interns must be dependable, as this job involves working with children.
  • Boys and Girls Club Interns must be patient, helpful, and sensitive to the challenges children and tutors face helping to find creative solutions to their struggles
  • Boys and Girls Club Interns must be able to keep a positive attitude, and are encouraged to demonstrate leadership through creating and leading professional development trainings that tutors would benefit from 
  • Boys and Girls Club Interns must demonstrative effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Bilingual HWS students are encouraged to apply
