Summer of Service – Assistant Camp Instructor for S.O.S. (Students Outside all Summer) Geneva 2030

Position Title: Summer of Service – Assistant Camp Instructor for S.O.S. (Students Outside all Summer) Geneva 2030 

Semester/Year: Summer 2024

Total Positions Available: 2

Supervisor: Heather Mills; On-site supervisor Jesse Worden.

Pay rate: $15.00 per hour

Hours per Week: 35  

Start Date: 7/8/2024

End Date: 8/23/2024 

 

Position Description:

  • Weekly hour commitment is 35 hours for 7 weeks.
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will serve as a leader of CCESL and Geneva 2030 when at various events and volunteer opportunities.
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will focus on outdoor education, environmental stewardship, and sustainability.  
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will help supervise up to 60 children and ensuring their safety in programs. 
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will support youth in building community, self-esteem, belonging, and foster positive attitudes towards learning and growth. 
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will learn more about outdoor activities (crafting, foraging, wilderness cooking, etc.) 
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will maintain communication with CCESL Staff and Geneva 2030 and maintain accurate records.
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will provide valuable hands-on experiences in leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will be expected to attend monthly meetings with CCESL Staff and other Summer of Service participants. 

 

 Qualifications:

  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor should be comfortable with being outdoors in all types of weather and ready to assist in instruction. 
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will have an interest in education and leading students in various outdoors activity. 
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will need to be excellent at managing their time and be prompt for every meeting and session. 
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will need to be professional and comfortable with facilitation and public speaking. 
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will have a commitment to equity and inclusion. 
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor will be empathetic to individual lived experiences of participants. 
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor must be dependable, as this job involves working with children.
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor must be able to keep a positive attitude, and are encouraged to demonstrate leadership and initiative.
  • Geneva 2030 Assistant Camp Instructor must demonstrative effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Bilingual HWS students are encouraged to apply
