Position Title: Visual Arts Tour Guide

Pay rate: $15 per hour

End Date: May 12, 2025

 

Description

As a Visual Arts Campus Tour Guide at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, you will play a crucial role in showcasing our vibrant arts community to prospective students and their families. Visual Arts Tours are offered as a separate experience, allowing families to delve deeper into our artistic offerings beyond the main campus tour, and usually last between thirty to forty-five minutes. Whether families request these tours in advance or spontaneously during the main tour, you'll be there to provide an engaging and informative experience.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Visual Arts Tours for prospective students and their families, providing insights into our dynamic arts community.
  • Meet families at the Arts Campus by Houghton House and lead them through designated buildings and rooms, following the provided manual.
  • Share important information about each space, highlighting key features, programs, and opportunities within the Art Department.
  • Personalize the tour experience by sharing personal anecdotes, experiences, and insights about the Arts Campus and the Art Department.
  • Maintain professionalism and enthusiasm throughout the tour, ensuring families feel welcomed and inspired by our artistic offerings.
  • Collaborate with admissions staff and fellow tour guides to coordinate tour schedules and provide a seamless experience for visitors.

 

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate student at Hobart and William Smith Colleges with a strong interest in the visual arts.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of and passion for the arts, including familiarity with the Art Department's programs, faculty, and facilities.
  • Ability to work independently and follow tour guidelines while also incorporating personal touches to enhance the tour experience.
  • Professionalism, punctuality, and reliability in conducting tours and interacting with prospective students and their families.
