Civic Leader of Outreach

Position Title: Civic Leader of Outreach

Semester/Year: 2024-2025

Total Positions Available: 1

Supervisor: Peter Budmen

Pay rate: $15/hr

Hours per Week: 2-4 

Start Date: August 26, 2024

End Date: May 5, 2025

 

Position Description:

  • Serving as the general contact for questions about getting involved on campus
    • Hold meetings with students who would like to get involved in community service but are unsure where to start in their search
  • Assisting CCESL sponsored events throughout the year
    • Alternative Spring Break recruitment for various trips across the country for students to participate in.
    • Blood Drives
      • Assist coordinator as well as be available for any questions
      • Help with recruitment for volunteers and donors
    • Holiday Gift Project
      • Help publicize the program as well as assist in matching up students/faculty with a family or child
      • Recruit volunteers needed for shopping/wrapping/distributing etc. 
    • Community Sale
      • Assist in the publicity and planning for event in mid-May
    • Community Lunch Program 
      • Recruit volunteers for Thursdays in October and February whether it is individually or in groups (coaches, faculty etc.)
    • Other one-time service events not associated with Days of Service
  • The Civic Leader for CCESL Outreach is also responsible for attending:
  • Any and all training events geared toward improving upon their job as a Civic Leader
  • Weekly one on one meeting with Assistant Director to discuss upcoming projects and/or to address any questions 
  • Any other workshops or events that they feel will further enhance their position as the Civic Leader for CCESL Outreach

 

Qualifications:

  • Candidates will be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior with prior experience with CCESL or other community related groups on campus
  • Candidates will need to be excellent at managing their time and be prompt for every meeting. 
  • Candidates must be dependable, as this job involves working with community partners.
  • Candidates must be able to keep a positive attitude, and are encouraged to demonstrate leadership and initiative. 
  • Candidates must demonstrative effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Bilingual HWS students are encouraged to apply
