Career Services Peer Career Advisor
Peer Career Advisors (PCA's) function as para-professional support staff in the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education. The PCA commitment involves approximately 5 hours of work weekly, participation in the recruitment and selection of the following year's CA staff, a willingness to work with peers in a fast-paced environment, being flexible and willing to adapt to change, and an interest in having fun while working with others.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with resume development, cover letter writing and LinkedIn Profile development
- Assist students in utilizing office resources for job or internship search, including Handshake and the Career Network
- Facilitate resume and cover letter workshops each semester
- Assist professional staff with projects when not meeting with students
- May be asked to help answer phones when needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Masters
- Strong oral communication and written skills
- Attention to detail
- Flexible and patient
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Previous active engagement with Career Services is strongly preferred
