Description
A Summer Intern in the HWS Admissions Office will experience a variety of responsibilities that will assist in the recruitment of the next class to enter HWS. Their primary responsibility will be to introduce the Colleges’ campus, curriculum, and programs to prospective students and their families through the campus tour. They will also be assigned general office tasks such as answering phones, welcoming visitors, completing special projects and helping with other essential recruitment responsibilities. All interns are expected to assist with special events, including weekend programs.
Responsibilities
- Touring prospective students and families around campus, answering questions and helping with requests
- Accurately represent a variety of programs offered by the colleges, regardless of prior experience
- Providing students with information and assistance regarding admissions application procedures and timelines
- Answering phones, assessing the needs of callers and routing calls appropriately, while providing quality customer service
- Participating in on-campus admissions events
- Welcoming visitors to campus
- Assisting staff with regional and functional duties as requested
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
The Applicant must:
- Have a strong customer service orientation: positive, helpful, resourceful
- Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to unique social, cultural, and economic circumstances of students
- Demonstrate a firm knowledge of the Colleges’ educational philosophy and mission
- Be highly reliable (at work on-time or call-in advance)
- Be flexible and adaptable
Preferred Qualification
- At least 1 semester of residency at HWS
- Energetic, positive attitude
- Sales experience
- Demonstrate a genuine desire to help others: Friendly, respectful, willing to go the extra mile to help folks find answers to questions, give accurate directions.
